The shore √
I walk along the rocky shore
My thoughts go out to sea, once more
I pause upon the seaward course
I wish to trust without remorse
For all the ripples on the water
Cast along the foam to slaughter
What makes of life just sad abuse
No, not courageous, just obtuse
I trust myself with loving hue
And, balance all against the few
Through all of time, I'll never rue
I stroll along the sandy coast
While time stands still and plays the host
To all those thoughts remembered best
Her love, her scent and all the rest
This tempest of the ransomed past
So finely set, uniquely cast
Through all these tendrilled thoughts of mine
That go so far on back through time
The wondrous ripples of the ages
All attest like endless mages
So many lives of trial and error
Are now complete without the terror
A coast across the water seen
An island there that’s always been
A barrier of mist between
That shields the lives both crisp and keen
The driftwood fragments here and there
Are fractured far beyond repair
Those precious moments, glimpse a view
Like blue sea glass, so very few
This gentle day of late November
That brings to life all I remember
The beat of life takes hold once more
I walk away from sandy shore
